Twitter-Based Web Applications

by admin on February 17, 2009

Here’s a few Twitter-based tools, which will open your eyes to the hidden value of Twitter. Sure, you can use it to network with experts, drive traffic to website(s), help others with their needs. But did you know that the people at Twitter make their application programming interface (API) available to anyone that wants to build web applications that tap into the Twitter stream?

Everyday I find useful Twitter tools. Some are browser-based, some are stand alone applications, some are made for mobile devices, like the iPhone. Here’s a few browser-based Twitter apps, and what they’re good for.

Hover over the icon for a description and click to go to the webpage.

I’ll continue to build this list, so come back often to see what else I’ve found. Also, each of these webapps deserve much more attention than I’ve given them is a sentence or two, so I’ll be reviewing each one in detail. I’ll provide links when the review is ready. Happy Twittering!

By the way, if you have a favorite Twitter web app, leave a comment. I’ll check it out and add it to the list.

Take a look at DUB - http://www.dubmenow.com. It's a mobile business card exchange service that works on mobile phones and pushes the latest contact info to your mobile address book so it's always fresh. You can also setup your Twitter account on the DUB website and new contacts and their updates are announced on your Twitter stream.
  • Thanks bugman, in fact I've already signed up and installed the Dub iPhone app. I think Dub has great potential to significantly improve and ease the ability to network and manage those networks. I particularly like the ubiquity across mobile platforms and contact repositories.

If you so desire, go to my contact page and invite me as a contact into your Dub.
